Head Coach Robin Meiggs Comments:

“This is our season opener and we are mostly ready for racing.  The team is excited to finally be hitting the road. Our team speed has been slow up until this point. The momentum of racing is helping increase the speed of boats, but whether it's enough to get us where we need to be is another question. With a team of 60 women, we definitely have depth that we haven't had in the past. Saturday will reveal our strengths and weaknesses.” … “We know (Sacramento State) will be fast, as they normally set the pace for most of the races. UCSD has consistent speed in their varsity 8 and 4. The results of this race will help clearly define our speed in Division II and give us a better idea of what to work on for the next six weeks.  Mills (College) has a new coach and they have picked up considerable speed from last year and the Cal Lightweights send crews to lightweight national every year and are always fast.” … “We completed seat racing on Wednesday and have set most of our boats for this weekends event, however Ashely Frakes a major component in our Novice 8 is injured and we don't think she will be cleared for competition by Saturday.”
