EUGENE, Ore. – Finishing their season at one of track and field’s most storied venues, several Humboldt State track and field athletes put up solid performances at the Oregon Twilight Meet on Saturday.
Eric Malain achieved one of the best marks of the day for the Lumberjacks, clocking 3 minutes, 54.52 seconds to place third in the “B” section of the men’s 1,500 meters. The only other member of the HSU men’s squad participating was Brian Wilkomm, who took sixth place in the shot put with a distance of 40 feet, 2 ¼ inches.
For the Jacks women, Kelsey Lemke took fourth in the women’s javelin with a throw of 133-1, and Heather Snyder took second in the women’s shot put with a throw of 40-2 ¼. Jennifer Deegan was ninth in the hammer with a toss of 130-11, and Olivia Juarez timed 25.83 seconds to place fifth in the women’s 200 meters.
Humboldt State takes a week off from competition before learning which of its athletes will advance to the NCAA Division II Championships, scheduled for May 21-23 in San Angelo, Texas.
