ARCATA – Humboldt State forward Josh Suggs has been named a 2009 All-California Collegiate Athletic Association performer it was announced Thursday.

Suggs, a junior out of Las Cruces, N.M., was named to the conference’s second team.  It is his second all-conference recognition.  He earned honorable mention All-CCAA last season.

“Josh certainly deserves this honor,” head coach Christian Johnson said.  “We felt that his performance deserved first-team recognition, but the team stumbled out of the gate and our record hurt his chances. He can play with the best athletes in this conference and I’m excited to see how he improves over the summer and what he will do next season.”

Suggs ranked in the top-10 of six statistical categories in 2009 with his 71 shots leading the conference.  Suggs tied for third in goals with seven, and tied for fifth in points with 16.

For the season he scored nine goals and added three assists for 21 points while making 18 starts and seeing action in all 20 matches.

HSU finished in a fourth place in the CCAA’s North Division with a 5-8-3 record and an overall mark of 6-10-4.
