Humboldt State's sports facilities - good and getting better!

Whether it's cheering the Lumberjacks in the East Gym or turning out for the annual Celebrity Dinner and Sports Auction, the community is supportive and generous to HSU athletics. That generosity has helped make athletic facilities at the university some of the best.

During the next year, HSU Athletics will relocate into a brand new $48 million facility that features a new gymasium and many more enhancements. It will replace the current East Gym, which has long served as home for the HSU volleyball and basketball teams.

Surrounded by trees, Redwood Bowl is a beautiful setting for football and track and field events. The playing field is a synthetic FieldTurf, a surface that allows use in all-weather while also proven to reduce injuries. The all-weather track is considered one of the fastest anywhere.

In 2003, Humboldt State made its first appearance on the long-awaited on-campus softball field. The Jacks' facility has improved  since then, adding covered dugouts, a scoreboard and enclosed bullpens.

The HSU Soccer Field has bleachers and additional seating on "the hill", a perfect setting to bring along a picnic lunch while enjoying all the action.

Humboldt State's distance runners train daily in the Arcata Community Forest, located just behind campus. Another scenic wonder, Patrick's Point State Park, serves as the course for the cross country team's annual Humboldt Invitational.

Humboldt's strength and conditioning facility offers versatile workout opportunities under the guidance of experienced professionals.

The Student Recreation Center has an indoor artificial field protected from the elements. It also houses a rock climbing wall and fitness center.
